The Ultimate Girl’s Day
This year I was fortunate to experience the National Women’s Show for the first time as an official event blogger. The National Women’s Show is Canada’s largest consumer event for women, making it the ultimate girl’s day for you and your girl gang. It offers a wide range from wine sampling, fashion shows, beauty secrets, cooking demos, travel ideas and so much more. It was so overwhelming to take in all the booths let alone free samples. There were over 500 exhibitors at the show and only so little time to enjoy it all.
I chatted with a few vendors, finding out about their products and their history. The first (and probably my favourite) was Poppy & Peonies. Poppy & Peonies offers trendy, affordable and versatile handbags that can be worn multiple ways to suit the many events in your life. They also sell the cutest jewelry and wallets. Not only was I able to snag a new purse and a beautiful necklace but I also met the owner and designer, Natalie Dusome. Her love for handbags and fashion truly shines through in her products as they are trendy, high quality and extremely adorable! Her love for her business is so evident, she makes the entire experience enjoyable. Natalie believes firmly in empowering women and supporting Canadian business, making her gorgeous products very accessible. Natalie’s determination, positive attitude, friendliness and perseverance makes her an extraordinary business woman.
After wandering around a little more, my best friend and I were in need of some refreshments. Let me tell you – there were plenty of delicious treats and snacks to go around. We enjoyed cheese samples, pickled beans, chocolate, more cheese, then somehow found ourselves in the cocktail section..;), where we stumbled upon another new and fresh company that left our pallets completely satisfied. Founder’s Original are delicious bar quality cocktails made from real ingredients and contain no preservatives. Their flavours are delectable - - not too sweet - - and beautifully packaged. They currently have a wide range of flavours, including Tequila Palmoma and Bourbon Sour. Founder’s Original are also known for their Old Fashioned. They make a great gift for any whisky fan – or for yourself. Keep a few bottles stocked at home so you're always prepared for Happy Hour this spring. They are available at the LCBO, so be sure to stock up next time you visit!
The NWS was a day filled with great treats and socializing. It was wonderful meeting fellow Canadian entrepreneurs who are really passionate about their businesses. Not only did I walk away with a full belly and some great accessories, I was able to meet some really awesome people who encouraged me to keep doing what I’m doing.
